5 Minutes With… Jean Ho

Once dreaming of a job as an air stewardess with Singapore Airlines, Talent Coordinator Jean Ho now spends her days getting to know candidates across industries on behalf of our clients at Accela Talent. Keep reading to get to know more about her day to day role, the meal she can’t stop thinking about and one thing she can’t live without.

How would you describe what you do to your grandmother?

My role as a Talent Coordinator is to match people to jobs based on their skills, knowledge, and experience. I highlight candidates' strengths, suggest jobs they would be suitable for, and I'll recommend potential talents to the hiring manager.

What does a typical day look like for you?

I start my day off by checking my emails. I will reply to emails, go through my to-do list, and get started on the work that has my top priority. In the afternoon, I will do screen calls with candidates.

Which aspects of your role do you enjoy the most?

My role involves speaking with people, learning about their roles, career aspirations, and goals. I certainly enjoy interacting with people from all walks of life. I also learn new things by listening to them. It is something I find increasingly interesting and valuable!

What would you say truly differentiates Accela from the many competitive choices that exist in the industry?

I love the company culture in Accela. The CSR team comes up with fun and engaging activities for employees to get together once a month. Leaders recognise the achievements of their employees, and colleagues are like friends!

Do you have any hidden talents?

I passed my grade 8 practical piano exam with distinction when I was 15 years old. I hope that is considered a hidden talent!

If you could do another job for just one day, what would it be?

Air stewardess! It is my childhood dream to be an air stewardess with Singapore Airlines. During my final year in school, I thought of joining Singapore Airlines as an air stewardess as I enjoy traveling the world. However, my parents were never supportive of that idea and Covid-19 happened so I threw that idea out of the window.

What do you enjoy doing when you’re not at work?

I have had a newfound interest in yoga, and I signed up for a yoga package with Yoga Movement! During my free time, you'll be able to find me at one of the Yoga Movement studios in Singapore.

What is one thing you couldn’t live without?

Bubble tea with pearls!

What’s the most memorable meal you’ve ever had?

It would be the first meal I had in Italy three years ago. I love carbonara, and I had to order it. The taste is unforgettable. The carbonara has an amazing flavour and is golden from the yolks. I am ravenous just thinking about it and I want to go back!
